Abington library to thank teens with petting zoo

A diapered goat, potbellied pig, and cute-as-can-be bunnies, kittens, puppies, and chicks will visit the Abington Public Library, 600 Gliniewicz Way, this Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m., as part of the Barn Babies traveling zoo program sponsored by the Joyce Lee Bumpus Fund. Children’s librarian Lauren Budd said the volunteer teen advisory board came up with the idea, remembering the program as a childhood favorite. As thanks for the hours they put in helping staff, the teens will get to enjoy some time with the animals prior to assisting with the children’s portion of the program, which will take place in two half-hour sessions for ages 3 and up. The program is intended for Abington residents and registration is required. “It will be quite a crowd for a Saturday at the library,” said Budd.
