Senior center cafe

Using a $7,000 grant from a local foundation, the Senior Center is planning to turn a lobby area into a café to offer soup, yogurt, coffee, and snacks for seniors who haven’t signed up for the center’s official lunch. The center’s hot lunch is the main meal of the day for some of the regulars, but people have to sign up for it 24 hours in advance. The grant from the Grafton Memorial Fund will fund a countertop sink, a refrigerator, and a coffee machine that will offer coffee, hot chocolate, and latte, said director Joanne Moore. The Public Works Department will do the renovation work, and the center is seeking volunteers to help run the café. An opening is planned for the spring. - Robert Knox
