Forum to tackle busing legacy

The Cohasset Diversity Committee and local clergy last week skipped their annual breakfast honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., deciding instead to honor the civil rights leader with a forum during Black History Month. The alternative event will be held Feb. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Paul Pratt Memorial Library, and will focus on busing in Boston. The speaker will be Donna Bevins of the Boston Busing/Desegregation Project for Truth, Learning and Change. “We’re just trying to do something different - it’s a fascinating topic - but next year we’ll be back to the breakfast,” said Connie Afshar, who heads the diversity panel. - Johanna Seltz
