Darien Fernandez propels Wareham basketball to 12-0 start

His back to the basket, Darien Fernandez received a pass just outside the paint along the right baseline and posted up the 5-foot-10 guard from Apponequet Regional. He faked left, spun right, and banked a layup off the glass, over the fingertips of the Lakers’ 6-6 center, who had closed in for the block. It was an impressive move for any player, but more so for the junior whiz from Wareham High, who gave away nearly 12 inches to the Apponequet player, and has propelled the Vikings to a 12-0 start on the court.
