Police chief bowing out

Police Chief William K. Conlon has set Feb. 10 as his last day in the post, which he has held for six years. Conlon, 57, announced last year that he was retiring. He replaced Paul Studenski, now a city councilor, in 2006. Mayor Linda M. Balzotti said she will name an interim chief while she seeks a replacement. Approval of the appointment does not require City Council approval. Conlon is paid $154,000 a year.
