Rare book lecture, appraisals

That signed, original edition of a book your uncle bequeathed to you might be just the thing to bring along for a free lecture at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Abington Public Library at 600 Gliniewicz Way. Ken Gloss, owner of the Brattle Book Shop in Boston and an appraiser on PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow,’’ will be discussing the value of rare books, and offering verbal assessments of volumes brought in by audience members. The event will also feature rare items from the shop’s private collection, such as a sales brochure for the ill-fated Titanic cruise, old Life magazines, and a 1912 World Series score card. For more information, visit www.brattlebookshop.com or call the shop at 800-447-9595. - Constance Lindner
