Spelling bee teams wanted

The Whitman-Hanson Education Foundation is recruiting teams to participate in its second annual spelling bee fund-raiser, scheduled for March 29 in Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. The entry fee for the bee, which is open to anyone high school age or above, is $150 per team. Teams can also buy a $50 “mulligan’’ allowing them an additional opportunity to stay in the bee after they ordinarily would have had to drop out. Proceeds will benefit the foundation, which provides grants for programs in the district’s schools. In last year’s contest, the foundation attracted 25 teams and raised $4,500, according to Laura Fitzgerald-Kemmett of Hanson, the foundation’s president. The foundation, meanwhile, is conducting its annual membership drive. To sign up for the bee, join the group, or seek more information, e-mail infor@wheducationfoundation.org or go to www.wheducationfoundation.org.
