Black inventors celebrated

The Brockton Public Library will hold a Family Day in celebration of Black History Month on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 304 Main St. This year’s focus will be on African-American inventors, and free calendars featuring them will be distributed. Indaba Theatre of New England will perform monologues based on the inventors from noon to 1 p.m. Throughout the day, Indaba Theatre will also present living statues representing black inventors. Children can make an African wrap doll or paper figure with Doll E. Daze Project & Museum Inc. There will be historical library tours, refreshments, and music by the South Middle School band. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 508-580-7890. - Steve Hatch
