Cultural immersion

Students taking French at Sharon High School traveled to Quebec in January for a cultural immersion weekend filled with lessons about Canadian history, a tour of Quebec City, winter sports, and listening to a French-speaking guide. Sharon High French teacher Kathleen Turner said the 22 students, all seniors, stayed in a hotel on the outskirts of the city and followed a packed schedule over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. They learned about the Huron people, French settlement and war with the English, and the production of maple syrup, she said. They tried dog sledding and snowshoeing, and they visited a hotel made entirely of ice.
