New full-day kindergarten

Full-day kindergarten will be introduced this fall in Holbrook. The School Committee voted Jan. 26 to approve Superintendent Joseph Baeta’s recommendation to give parents the option of extending their children’s existing half-day experience to a full day. To start, the program will accept 44 students by lottery to make two classes of 22, and tuition is $4,000. Income-based tuition assistance is available. Parents can pick up lottery applications at the regular kindergarten registration April 2 through 4; applications must be hand-delivered to the superintendent’s office no later than noon on April 5. The lottery will be held at 7 p.m. April 9 at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School. - Jennette Barnes
