Job combination proposed

Town Administrator Jim Thomas has proposed combining the two part-time positions of senior van driver and custodian into one full-time position, since both jobs relate to the Senior Center. Following the recent retirement of the van driver, both positions are open. The van job is currently booked at 33 hours, but Thomas said there is down time in that job, making the driver available for custodian duties. Those duties, currently 18 hours a week, fluctuate depending on center activities. In order to combine the two jobs, the Board of Selectmen will have to lift the town’s hiring freeze. - Robert Knox
