Rare birthday bash

How can a town incorporated in 1872 be celebrating its 34th birthday this month? It’s a leap-year town, of course. All are welcome at a celebration next Sunday hosted by the Holbrook Historical Society at the Dalton Club, also known as William B. Dalton Post 137 of the American Legion, 777 Plymouth St. The town will mark its 140th year with dinner, music, and dancing. The festivities begin at 3 p.m. with cocktails and Al DuBois on piano, followed by dinner at 4:15. The Holbrook Junior-Senior High School Chorus and other musicians will perform. For tickets, which are $35 per person, contact the town clerk’s office at 781-767-4314, historical society at 781-767-5885, or library at 781-767-3644. - Jennette Barnes
