Ex-selectman seeks seat

Adam Bond, a lawyer and former selectman, recently announced his candidacy for state representative for the 12th Bristol District. The Middleborough Democrat’s slogan, “People before Party,” is posted on his website, votebond.com. Bond’s background includes more than 20 years practicing law, along with a stint as selectman from 2004 through 2009. Bond played a high-profile role in the July 2007 outdoor Town Meeting at which voters ratified a multimillion-dollar agreement for a local casino with the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe. That deal has long since fallen apart. Bond resigned from the Board of Selectmen in early 2009 over a casino-related disagreement with his colleagues. - Christine Legere
