PEMBROKE | BRIEFS

Hazardous waste day soon

The town is offering residents an opportunity to properly dispose of their household hazardous-waste materials. On March 24, Pembroke is holding a household hazardous waste collection day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Recycling Center on Hobomock Street. Anyone dropping off an item must be a Pembroke resident with a current recycling sticker. Commercial hazardous wastes will not be accepted. Items that can be dropped off range from insect sprays, metal polishers, and photo chemicals to old chemistry sets, oil-based paints, floor cleaners, and brake fluid. Materials that will not be accepted include motor oil, latex paint, radioactive waste, ammunition, and car batteries. For more information, go to the town’s web site, www.pembroke-ma.gov.
