Town ballot features two races

Five candidates will vie for the three-year selectman’s term up for grabs, in one of two contests that have developed for the April 28 annual town election. The field for selectman includes Karen Roberts, a longtime manager at the Raynham-Taunton Greyhound Park; Sewer Commission chairman Richard Schiavo; military veteran and political newcomer Kevin Moreira; and residents James Burns and Terence Smith. In a second contest, Bruce Raphel will challenge incumbent Daniel Andrade for a five-year term on the Planning Board. One of two three-year terms on the regional school committee failed to draw a candidate and will be offered to the person who gains the most write-in votes. - Christine Legere
