Tree program takes root


The state has approved Avon’s application to participate in the Tree City USA program run by the national Arbor Day Foundation. Eighty-five communities in Massachusetts were designated Tree Cities in 2010, according to the foundation. The program “provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs,” according to the foundation webpage. - Johanna Seltz
