Historic survey grant

The city of Brockton has received a $10,000 matching grant from the Massachusetts Historic Commission to fund a historic building survey of downtown. The city’s match for the grant will come from the mayor’s fiscal year 2013 budget, which begins July 1. With the grant, the city will hire a consultant to survey up to 100 buildings downtown. The final survey list will be sent to the commission, with an analysis of each building’s historical significance, for consideration to join the 16 other locations in Brockton on the National Register of Historic Places. - Maureen Quinlan
