Church jazzes up

The First Parish Church of Kingston will host a jazz concert on Saturday to benefit the church’s charitable work. The performers, Guy Van Duser and Billy Novick have played together for more than 30 years, releasing nine recordings, performing in jazz festivals, and appearing on radio’s “Prairie Home Companion.” Novick’s film music compositions have also been featured in the movies “Seabiscuit” and “The Opposite of Sex.” The jazz cabaret concert at the Beal House, 222 Main St., includes music and a full dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. for $25. To reserve tickets, call 781-585-3051. - Robert Knox
