Contested races in election

The ballot for the April 24 town election includes several contested races, including one seat on the Board of Selectmen and the position of town clerk. Selectman John Shields and Denis Keohane, a School Committee member, are vying for one selectman seat, while David Conlin, Susan Galvin, Michael Joyce, and Marion McEttrick are running for town clerk, a position that opened this year after James Mullen retired. James Henderson will challenge William Bennett for the town assessor position, and library trustees Brendan McLaughlin and Barbara Mason will face off against Sheryl Fleitman and Herbert Voigt for two positions on the Milton Public Library Board of Trustees. - Natalie Feulner
