Fete for schools nets $55,000

A spring social raised $55,000 last month, boosting the amount the Westwood Elementary School Coalition has provided to students and teachers over the past 18 years to more than $1 million. The event at Moseley’s on the Charles drew about 400 people, according to president Mike Walsh. Sponsors included Roche Brothers, Dedham Savings Bank, and Needham Cooperative Bank. The school coalition raises funds for all five of the town’s elementary schools and their parent-teacher organizations. Money goes to such things as curriculum and cultural enrichment programs, field trips, computer equipment, art programs, and supplies.
