A lesson in postwar jazz

The town’s Lifelong Learning program will sponsor a presentation by Berklee College of Music professor Charles Cassara next Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Duxbury Senior Center. Cassara, a composer and arranger, will discuss the impact and differences between post-World War II bebop jazz and the cool jazz movements that followed during the 1950s. Those styles evolved into the hard bop jazz of today. Cassara, who is also director of the South Shore Bay Band, will provide audio and video samples to illustrate jazz movements. Register for the program by calling 781-934-5774, ext. 100. A $5 fee will be charged.
