Testing gas pipeline by flare

Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC will perform a natural gas flare test next week at the meter station located at 20 Oak Hill Way. The test, which evaluates the integrity of the pipeline, will be performed April 23 through April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A temporary stack about 80 feet high will be erected, and during the flare test, a large flame will be visible at the top. The process will also make a noise described as louder than a jet engine. Algonquin personnel will be present and will pay for police and fire details during the procedure. City officials said there will be no risk to people or property in the area.
