Last word on senior center
The town is one step away from building a senior center. Voters at the May 7 Town Meeting are being asked to ratify the town election vote authorizing borrowing $3 million for the center. A two-thirds vote plus acceptance of land off Albion Court will send the project to construction. A nine-article Special Town Meeting and the 63-article annual Town Meeting start at 7 p.m. at the high school. Other articles seek approval of the $48.3 million annual budget, $23,615 to replace a tractor, $250,000 to control algae at Great Sandy Bottom Pond, $44,000 for a dump truck for the Tree Department, $145,000 for heater and boiler repairs at the schools, up to $220,000 for a new ambulance, and $6.3 million for road work.
