New Town Meeting members have a chance to learn the ropes before the real thing begins. Town Moderator Howard Hansen will conduct an orientation program in the teachers lounge at Stoughton High School on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The session will be followed by an organizational Town Meeting at 8:30 p.m., as required by the Town Charter. Because of two major school events that day, attendees are asked to park at the gym entrance on Pearl Street. The meeting agenda will include election of chairman and clerks for the precinct delegations; election of a deputy town moderator; adoption of rules and procedures governing conduct of Town Meeting; and choosing members for Town Meeting standing committees. Town Meeting will begin May 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stoughton High auditorium. Representatives are reminded to make sure their precinct leaders note their attendance. - Rich Fahey
