Blighted property rule passes


Town Meeting recently approved a bylaw that increases the town’s authority to deal with blighted property. The measure passed by seven votes, according to Town Clerk Ron Fucile. The May 7 meeting also voted to allow selectmen to either lease or sell the old library building. A local businessman is interested in renovating and reusing the property, which is located on the corner of Common Street and Lewis Avenue. The new library building opened this spring.
