Conservatory to show off new strings

The South Shore Conservatory recently received 15 violins and four violas, crafted by Homer Clark of Utah and donated by his wife, Peggy. Next Sunday, the conservatory will present the Homer Clark Scholarship Concert, combining its String Competition Winners’ Concert with performances by the faculty and students on the new stringed instruments. The program will begin at 4 p.m. at the conservatory’s Duxbury campus. Peggy Clark will be a guest of honor at the event, which will raise funds to benefit the scholarship program for string students. Tickets will not be sold, but donations are encouraged. To donate to the Homer Clark Scholarship Fund, contact Laura Carleton at 781-749-7565, ext. 14, or mail to South Shore Conservatory, 1 Conservatory Drive, Hingham, MA 02043. Online donations are also welcome at www.sscmusic.org.
