Police Chief Richard Stanley announced the grand opening of the Wareham Police Department’s Onset substation on May 25. The substation is in the former Onset Water District Office building at 240 Onset Ave., on the corner of Longwood Avenue. “It’s more of an information and welcome center,” said Lieutenant Kevin Walsh. The substation will be staffed by police officers and volunteers, and the goal is to have it open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. “We’re actively looking for volunteers,” said Walsh.
