Fund-raising for fireworks

America’s Hometown will celebrate Independence Day with a parade and a free concert on July 4, and if enough money is raised, there will be fireworks on the waterfront, too. The parade will begin at Hedge Road in North Plymouth at 9:30 a.m., and the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Pilgrim State Park. July 4 Plymouth Inc., a local nonprofit, is seeking donations to fund this year’s festivities, and if all goes according to plan, the fireworks will start around 9 p.m. on the waterfront that evening. “We’ve got another $25,000 to go,” said Kenneth Tavares, chairman of the July 4 organizing committee.
