Summer programs in martial arts are being held by the Freetown-Lakeville Community Recreation Campus Programs Department and will run for six Mondays: June 18 and 25, July 9, 16, and 30, and Aug. 6. The sessions will be held in the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School’s choral room. Youth martial arts are for ages 4 through 12, and mixed martial arts for ages 13 and older. Youth martial arts promotes the development of self-defense and personal protection, nonviolent conflict resolution, and fitness. Mixed martial arts employs the skills of wrestling, jiu-jitsu, boxing, and kickboxing and involves limited contact in a supervised environment. The fee is $60 per student.
