Health Agent Eric Badger has begun reinstating Health Department procedures that had fallen off in recent years due to lack of staff. One such procedure is the required yearly renewal of tobacco permits. Badger recently mailed merchants forms to update those permits, which include a yearly fee increase to $100 from $50. Badger said merchants will also see increased vigilance regarding the sale of tobacco to minors. He has already started doing compliance checks.
