Best-selling author breezes in

The Duxbury Free Library will host Milton native Courtney Sullivan, author of the best-selling novel “Maine,” for a reading and book signing Thursday at 7 p.m. The event is part of a collaboration between the library and Westwinds Bookshop to bring literary events to the South Shore this year. “Maine” tells the story of three generations of a Boston Irish family who descend on the family’s summer retreat on an isolated piece of the Maine coast. The tale interweaves the successes and shortcomings of the fictional Kelleher family. The “BookBreeze” series continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. when columnist and talk show host Howie Carr will discuss his first novel, “Hard Knocks,” a mystery intertwining the worlds of crime and politics in Boston.
