A recent real estate deal has added more than $900,000 to the town coffers, Town Manager David Murphy announced. In 2009, the town acquired the former Hollywell Nursing Home at 975 North Main St. for $1, and on June 4, sold the 3.2-acre property to Nurses 'R Us for $902,000. Randolph-based Nurses 'R Us provides visiting nurses and other health services to residents and employs more than 60 health professionals. Murphy said the town’s legal team spent 14 months resolving four encroachment issues with surrounding properties, and once the issues were resolved, the property increased in value. Proceeds from the sale will be placed in the town's Stabilization Fund to strengthen the town's financial reserves. The new business is expected to generate about $65,000 in property and personal property taxes annually, and additional revenues in building permits and other fees for the town. “With more than five dozen employees, Nurses 'R Us will benefit many other businesses up and down the Route 28 business corridor,’’ said Murphy. “Government can play a vital role in helping small business expand and prosper, and that’s what we are hoping to do.’’
