The North and South Rivers Watershed Association, a nonprofit advocacy group representing 12 towns, including Norwell, is promoting a fund-raiser that kicked off last weekend, when Peter Kelly-Detwiler, a Scituate resident, paddled the first 12-mile leg in a 72-mile water passage that was once used by the Wampanoag Indians. Over four days, Kelly-Detwiler paddled the historic canoe passage that connects the North and Taunton rivers and Massachusetts and Narragansett Bays. Although the trip was concluded Tuesday night, donations to help the association's mission of protecting and restoring the North and South rivers can still be made online or by check to the NSRWA, PO Box 43, Norwell, MA 02061.
