Selectmen have formed a search committee to find a replacement for longtime Town Counsel Robert Troy, who was fired this month after allegations made by Johnson Golf in a civil suit against the town. The company’s attorneys have claimed that Troy made misstatements in court and to selectmen in hearings on the case, which involved the town’s decision to replace Johnson Golf as manager of the town’s golf course. Johnson Golf claims the town exercised favoritism in the bidding process. After a closed meeting of the Board of Selectmen, chairman Ted Flynn said he recommended discontinuing Troy’s employment after 26 years. Troy released a statement expressing gratitude for his opportunity to serve the town but did not refer to the Johnson Golf case.
