Plimoth Plantation plans to host A Celestial Celebration on July 21 to raise money to restore the Mayflower II into shipshape condition before the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ voyage, in 2020. Organizers hope the event will raise awareness about the 55-year-old sailing ship, which is visited by 200,000 people annually. The summer gala will be held at Pilgrim Memorial Park, and broadcast journalist Gail Huff is an honorary cochairwoman. Award-winning author Nathaniel Philbrick will be the keynote speaker, and columnist Jonathan Soroff of The Improper Bostonian will be master of ceremonies for the event, whose sponsors include Boston Globe Media. For more information, call 508-746-1622, ext. 8226 or visit www.plimoth.org/gala.
