Norwell

Sick at sea

Nathan C. Owen, a Norwell resident, was racing his 46-foot yacht Seabiscuit from Newport, R.I., to Bermuda when he grew seasick and was forced on June 18 to evacuate about 20 hours into the race because of dehydration. Other racing boats attempted to assist Owen by throwing medicine aboard, but eventually a cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas, pulled him aboard and provided medical attention. Owen reunited in Bermuda with his sailing partner, Jonathan Green, who placed third, according to officials from the Newport Bermuda Race, a 635-mile race run by The Cruising Club of America and Royal Bermuda Yacht Club since 1926.
