Selectmen have agreed to drop the speed limit on Payson Road to 25 miles per hour from 35 miles per hour, after residents complainted of speeding and other reckless behavior on the newly paved street between North and Chestnut streets. Town Manager Kevin Paicos has also been instructed to explore the idea of installing a pair of pavement platforms that would slow down traffic. The platforms were part of the road’s initial reconstruction plan, but were never installed. Officials have said that increased activity in that area, as well as an influx of new residents, makes it critical to take action.
