New hiring

Two town departments are about to get some additional help. Town Meeting last month budgeted money to hire two new laborers, one for the Highway Department and one for the Forestry Department.  The positions were funded at the request of both departments, which have seen increased duties in recent years but maintain limited staffs, according to Mallory Aronstein,  confidential secretary to the Board of Selectmen. The town is now accepting applications for the two 40-hour a week positions, both of which pay $19.09 an hour  with benefits. Applicants for both positions must possess a Class B commercial driver’s license. A Class 2B hoisting license  — for operating back hoes and front end loaders — is also required for the Highway Department job, and is recommended for the Forestry Department position. Applications are due Aug. 3 at noon.
