The town will receive $750,000 from the state in fiscal 2013 as mitigation for having a state prison within its borders. That is the same amount that the town received last fiscal year, according to Jean Hogan, an aide to state Representative John Rogers. Hogan said Walpole also will receive up to $50,000 from a separate state account divided among all Massachusetts communities that host prisons. There are no restrictions on how the town spends the state money, which is part of the recently signed state budget, she said.
