Town on TV

Duxbury’s celebration of the 375th anniversary of its founding drew the attention of Chronicle, the Channel 5 television show, with a segment last week on the town and its activities. Film crews talked to representatives of the historical society and the committee that organized a yearlong series of events to observe the milestone. Last month the town celebrated the founding date of June 17  with an old-fashioned clambake, complete with lobster cooked in seaweed, an event that drew 475 people. Upcoming activities include the Family Fest concert on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.  on the town green, a lecture and movie entitled “Duxbury’s Magnificent Gilded Wrights” on Aug. 2, a croquet match on Aug. 11, a beach party on Aug. 11, and a Candlelight Concert series beginning Sept. 15. For the full events calendar, see duxbury375.com.
