Debate about the Braintree mayor’s salary will most likely rage on for several more months as town officials analyze the pay of employees in the town and surrounding communities.
In the process, they have found 78 Braintree municipal employees who were paid more than the mayor in 2011, including 42 at the Braintree Electric Light Department and a now-retired police officer who made more than $130,000 in overtime.

How many people does it take to screw in a light bulb? It seems like the stereotypes about municpal labor might be true. Forty-eight employees of the light department make more than the mayor. And for some their base salaries are doubled and in another department a patrolman's pay was tripled by overtime. HOw difficult can the work be if you can "do it" for 80 or 90 hours/week?
It seems like many Braintree employees are nervous about an inquiry about who makes what because residents might find out the work they do is not necessary. What do they call it.....sinecure? It's not surprising that the majority are men.
