A few years ago, a serious problem began brewing in Rockland: Students were dropping out of high school in droves. But that troubling trend appears to have reversed in this small, blue-collar suburb, according to the latest data from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The district reported that seven students dropped out during the 2010-2011 school year, and that its dropout rate has improved to 1.2 percent — the lowest it’s been in a decade.
