Braintree

Transportation forum to discuss issues

A transportation forum, hosted by the Massachusetts Area Planning Council and sponsored by Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan, Weymouth Mayor Sue Kay, and Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, will be held at Braintree Town Hall Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The discussion is the beginning of an “adult conversation” the council hopes to start on transportation issues, specifically on the importance of investment. According to Marc Draisen, the planning council’s executive director, the situation is so bad that transportation companies are borrowing money to pay for operating expenses. “This is a good time to get [the stakeholders] together and to demonstrate that one of their top priorities this year is to put the state’s transportation system on a sound financial footing,” he said.
