As snow began to fall in town Tuesday, Council on Aging director Gale Farrugia predicted that buckets of sand delivered by Boy Scout Troop 51 to local seniors will probably soon become a heavily requested item. “I’m sure after today we’ll get lots of calls,” the director said. The Scout community service program was started last year, and Farrugia said it is great for seniors who can’t get out in the snow and ice and want to make their walkways safe. Those looking for a bucket of sand may call the senior center at 508-261-7368. Donations of clean, five-gallon buckets with tops will also be accepted at the center.
