Veterans who own their homes are eligible for the property tax work-off program approved at the Nov. 19 Special Town Meeting. Participants can receive up to a $1,000 real estate tax credit. Veterans whose status is approved by the town veterans’ agent will be chosen by lottery for the five positions available in the first round. Those selected will do office work for various town agencies such as answering telephones, driving for Meals on Wheels, and handling mail. The program is similar to one for seniors. Applications are available at the Council on Aging, 15 Barrows St,, and are due back by Dec. 14. For more information, call Dolores Kent at 508-238-3160 or e-mail her at dkent@easton.ma.us.
