After a little prodding from the Fire Department’s administrative assistant, Sally Gorden, firefighters agreed to pose with their canine friends for a 2013 Raynham Firefighters and Friends calendar. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Taunton Animal Care Facility. Gorden said she got the idea from a fund-raising calendar with New York City firefighters who pose shirtless. “When I suggested the calendar, they kind of laughed at me at first,” Gorden recalled. “Then I said ‘what about adding your dogs?’ ” That suggestion was enough to convince them, as long as they could keep their shirts on. Some chose to pose in T-shirts and pants, while others put on their full firefighters’ gear. A few dogs even suited up. Bill Trautman’s black Labrador, Molly, is wearing a helmet, and Jason Karns’s Doberman, Lulu, sports a firefighter’s coat. Karns’s sister, Laura Emerson of Piggy Toes Photography, took the shots. The calendars, $15 each, are on sale at the fire station at 37 Orchard St. and at the town clerk’s office in Town Hall. They can also be ordered by mail for $20 each. Make checks payable to Professional Firefighters of Raynham, and mail to 37 Orchard St., Raynham, MA 02767.
