Town Hall rehab moving ahead

The old fire station connected to Town Hall has been gutted and is ready for the installation of electrical and climate-control systems, according to Town Administrator William Phelan. The town is converting the two-story fire house into offices, a meeting room, and a bathroom, aiming to relieve tight quarters at Town Hall. The audience at selectmen’s meetings often overflows the existing meeting room. That work should be done in the spring, he said. Then, after offices move into the old fire house, the town intends to rehabilitate the main building’s community hall, with its stage and decorative ceiling, for Town Meeting and other uses. Phelan said the hall would be an asset to the community.
