Town Meeting passes most articles

Voters at a Special Town Meeting on Nov. 19 passed 11 of 12 articles on the warrant, postponing action on one, which would have bought conservation land on Chapel Road using Community Preservation funds. Among the articles passed was a home rule petition seeking to establish standards and regulations for the harbormaster’s position, which is currently a part-time job; and a second such petition that now must be passed by the state Legislature. That petition would allow the town to pay half of group health insurance costs for town workers hired after June 30, 2010. An article requesting $230,000 for road paving in the Mattapoisett Neck area also passed.
