Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist to speak at university

Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and author Bob Woodward will be the featured speaker at 7 p.m., Monday in the Rondileau Campus Center auditorium at Bridgewater State University. His appearance is part of the President's Distinguished Speaker Series. Woodward, who has worked for the Washington Post since 1971, was one of the first reporters on the Watergate scandal, along with his colleague Carl Bernstein. “Given that this is the 40th anniversary year of the Watergate scandal, it was certainly appropriate to invite Bob Woodward to campus this year to talk about the work he and Carl Bernstein did on that issue,” said university spokeswoman Eva Gaffney. Woodward was also the lead reporter for the Post’s coverage of the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Gaffney noted. He has authored and co-authored 17 books, including “All the President’s Men” in 1974. His most recent book, “The Price of Politics,” which was published in September, provides an intimate look at how President Obama and congressional leaders attempted to restore the American economy and improve the federal government’s fiscal condition. Woodward will sign copies of that book after his talk. Admission is free, but reservations are required. E-mail  or call 508-531-6123.
