Laurie Cavanaugh will take over as the director of the Holmes Public Library on Jan. 2, replacing Deb DeJonker-Berry, who left the position during the summer. Cavanaugh has been the head of the reference department at the Wareham Free Library for the last two years and was employed at Brockton Public Library for seven years before that. The new library director, a Holbrook native who lives in Brockton, said the position is not only a step up in her career, but will put her a bit closer to home. “Halifax seems like a great little town with a great library,” Cavanaugh said.
